Thanks for visiting Fidalgo Beer Tastings! My name is Adam, and I’m a brewer and massive fan of sour and funky beer.
I assume, if you’ve found this website, you’re one of the following: a) interested in sour beer; b) living in or soon visiting Anacortes/Fidalgo Island; c) a friend or family member of mine and accidentally stumbled upon this. Regardless, I hope you find the site helpful and interesting.
Beginnings
Fidalgo Beer Tastings started because I have been collecting sour beer since 2012, and I prefer to drink sour beer with other people. And while, I’d bust out a special bottle at holiday dinners or birthday celebrations, my collection was growing to the point that my wife began to eye it with annoyance. I’d been talking to a few friends about informally getting together and sharing a bottle or two, but we just couldn’t align all of our schedules. Then an idea struck me, I could use my birthday as an excuse to host a more formal tasting, and I could rope my mom into helping me source locally grown/made foods, and do some pairing with the beers.
The evening was a hit! You can read all about it here: First Tastings
The Next Step
As the evening wound down, the few remaining guests and I chatted about how much fun the evening had been, and how we wished we could do this more often. Thus, Fidalgo Beer Tastings was born. We’re hoping to do quarterly get-togethers, around a theme, that will provide access to sour and funky beer for neophytes and veterans alike.
