Well, we did it! We had our first tasting event on April 29th, 2018, and the evening was a hit!
We had seventeen beers and fifteen attendees. The food was fantastic: we had a wonderful cheese platter made by Salt and Vine here in Anacortes; charcuterie from Slough Food in Edison, WA; handmade by Sue (my mom) crostini with several spreads: chèvre and pickled sweet peppers, hummus and olive tapenade, etc.; a wonderful cream of cauliflower soup (also my mom’s creation); beer glazed chicken skewers; sour beer pickled veggies; and much more. This was our beer list for the evening:

Closing, and the Next Step
One of the amazing revelations of the evening was how much we all enjoyed the tasting, and how much people wanted to do it again. There were also many people after the fact that showed disappointment in not being able to attend. As a result, we’re hoping to do quarterly get-togethers, around a theme, that will provide access to sour and funky beer for neophytes and veterans alike.
